Die Lampionbäume weisen einen unregelmäßigen Wuchs auf und werden von Natur aus zu individuellen Skulpturen. Zudem bilden sie ein besonders feinteiliges doppelt gefiedertes Blatt, das sich im Austrieb fleischig-rot, im Sommer kräftig grün und im Herbst intensiv orange zeigt. Diese Eigenschaften überzeugten mich zu dem Experiment, diese Baumart zum Bonsai zu entwickeln. Die Ergebnisse sind fantastisch.
