Catalpa bignonioides ‚Aurea‘

Gelblaubiger Trompetenbaum (Nordamerika)

Der Kleinbaum bildet eine breit verzweigte, ausladende Krone. Das große herzförmige Blatt erscheint im späten Frühling. Im Austrieb strahlend-goldgelb wechselt es seine Farbe in ein frisch leuchtendes zitronengelb. Nach einigen Jahren erscheinen im Juni/Juli weiße Blütenrispen. Die bohnenartigen Fruchthülsen bleiben über den Winter zierend am Baum hängen. Er gedeiht am besten auf durchlässigem Boden an einem sonnigen und windgeschütztem Standort.
